These are a few of the vehicles I've found around Portage during work. All photos taken with a Samsung Galaxy potato.

First up, the Miata with spinners. Spinner hubcaps, to be precise. No visible rust, surprisingly.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

It's at the lumberyard, so that's a piece of wood sticking out the passenger's window.

Second, is a completely rust-free SW20 MR2 with Wisconsin collector plates on it. Yep, the 2nd gen Mister Two is over 20 years old.

Kinja'd!!!

Third is a terribly-painted Elantra wagon. Didn't see any rust on this goofy bastard either.

Kinja'd!!!

Finally, a Mercury Grand Marquis Ultimate Edition that's also a Lil' Jon edition.

Spinners. I was just remarking yesterday at how nice it was they had such a short window of popularity.

The Elantra hurts.

Lots of bodies in the Lincoln.

Being a Samsung Galaxy Potato owner myself, I can attest to the camera being pretty good, but if you shudder or move whatsoever, woe be to your photo.

I should try to get more pictures of the Elantra. The paint is just as bad on the hatch and the hood.

I missed getting shots of a Chevy truck that had lime green "4x2" stickers on the side, to match the Monster Energy and "No Fat Chicks" stickers on the rear window.

My Galaxy potato is a Galaxy Axiom - US Cellular-specific trim, but also know as the Galaxy S 3 mini.

I have a s5 and, like most phones, I've had it six months but am already over it. It serves a purpose though and I don't need to be jazzed about it every day like it's Christmas.

Test drove that MR2 before purchasing a '91 CRX Si. I recall that there was insufficient sound deadening between the engine compartment and the cabin. Otherwise, a great little car.

Yeah, I knocked it outta the park finding rust-free cars somehow.

I almost bought a red SW20 for $300. Problem was that the previous owner didn't put the parking brake on and it rolled down the driveway and took a tree in the ass. Wrecked the decklid, a taillight assembly, bumper, and jammed in the back bulkhead on the body. At the time, I didn't have the inclination for major body work. Still don't, but I didn't then either.

I've had mine 2 months - it's a hand-me-down from my mom to replace the flip phone I had. I wanted a Note 4 but couldn't afford it.

I will never own a car again that so defied every expectation.

And with an impact like that, you can never be sure ... that car might never take an alignment again.

I did actually see it on the road a couple times. The buyer put wide 7-spoke wheels on just the back (they stuck out 1" outside the body) and didn't fix the bodywork at all.

And probably making things worse.

Run I-94 westbound to northbound I-39/90/94 at Madison, Exit 240. Stay on I-39 when it branches off from I-90/94 at Exit 108A. Take Exit 89A off I-39 for Portage. Roughly 100 miles from Russ Darrow Mazda of Greenfield.

If you can get over your fear of leaving the greater Milwaukee area, let me know. We can meet up. Might even be able to pry Dogapult off his computer and drag him along.

Yeah, I haven't seen it in 7 years. Guy probably ruined it, and scrapped it.

I think they may be making a comeback. I saw a new Camaro with spinners today.

Or..

My area is painfully behind the times.

A shame - those cars were fun to drive, if noisy. Maybe I should have bought that instead ... oh no, here we go again.

Nah, I had a '91 CRX. You made the better choice. There's a reason the Mister Two sold less in 5 years than the Fiero did in one.

I got it for nothing because someone I knew was just going to scrap it since the transmission was bad, it didn't have long to live, and the resale value was pretty much nothing. I was just looking for a beater to last a couple of months until I could get something better. I drove the thing for years after that without so much as a hiccup from it. It's also impossible to run out of room in it. When I worked in the film industry, people would laugh when I would show up to pick up equipment in it until they saw that not only did it all fit, but there was plenty of room for more. The thing was unkillable. In the last few months that I had it, I tried to finish it off, but I couldn't. I finally parked it and scrapped it when I got a new car. A few months ago, I was driving down the street and I saw it. It was the exact same car. Same scratches on the side from when I drove it through a bush, same autozone special foglamps and everything. It was at a construction site. I can only hope that whoever ended up with it was as pleasantly surprised by it as I was and that it keeps kicking ass for as long as an old Toyota truck. I want to see it ten years from now and even worse for wear. If I see it again, I'll buy it.

I know these feels. When I lived in Denver, I felt only a couple of years behind the West Coast. In Washington, I got the feeling we were an uncool New York, but not completely ass-backwards. In the Midwest, just hopelessly backwater.
